THE BELLPORT-BROOKHAVEN HISTORICAL SOCIETY
31 Bellport Lane, Bellport NY 11713
REQUESTS YOUR NOMINATION FOR
THE ROBERT H. PELLETREAU DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD IN
HISTORIC PRESERVATION FOR 2010
The award is presented in alternate years to the
person or organization that has done the most to further historic
preservation in Suffolk County or has made a significant
contribution to the preservation of a noted historic site. It was
created to honor the memory of Robert H. Pelletreau, dedicated
preservationist and President of the Society for 22 years and to
further interest in historic preservation in Suffolk County. Your
nomination for this special recognition is requested.
The awardee receives a $2,000 check and a plaque of
appreciation, presented at a special award ceremony. The award must
be accepted in person by the recipient. As Robert H. Pelletreau was
the direct descendant of Elias Pelletreau, a famous Colonial
silversmith, a silver bowl replicating a piece of Elias Pelletreau
silver is engraved with the name of each awardee. The bowl may be
displayed by the awardee during the year of recognition and
otherwise is on permanent display in the Society Museum Complex.
Previous award recipients are:
2001: Bertram Seides for his restoration efforts on behalf of
the Ketcham Inn and his major role in the designation of Moriches,
Center Moriches, East Moriches and Eastport as Historic Districts.
2003: The Greenlawn-Centerport Historical
Association for their successful efforts to preserve and restore
the 1730 Suydam Homestead and the 1905 Gardiner Barn.

recognition of past and ongoing efforts to restore and maintain
historically significant houses and properties in Yaphank.

their dedicated restoration efforts in the preservation of the

Village.
Entries must be postmarked by March 31, 2010
