MYSTERY HISTORY BICYCLE TREASURE HUNT Meet at the Bellport-Brookhaven Historical Society 31 Bellport Lane 10 AM Saturday July 17 DESCRIPTION OF THE GAME: The aim of the Mystery History Bicycle Treasure Hunt is to have teams of families with kids 6-12 years old, discover parts of Bellport that might be overlooked on any ordinary day. But today, by keeping your eyes and ears open and answering the following questions correctly, your powers of observation of everyday sights and sounds in Bellport will be tested. We have suggested that this hunt be done on wheels, but it’s OK if you want to walk. Each team of kids and adults will be given a map of several Bellport Streets, with a sheet of ten (10) clues leading to various locations. These streets are limited to Bellport Lane , Browns Lane, and Academy Lane and the streets that connect them. We will also supply a pencil to fill in information requested, and bottles of water – in case you get thirsty. At the sound of a bell, all teams will start searching for the places suggested by the clues. For some locations you must write in the address at which the location was found; for others, an Historical Society volunteer will show you how to do one of the special activities requested. When all the sites have been found, and the sheet of clues has been completely filled in, participants will return to the Historical Society where your sheet will be checked by our volunteers. The first three teams returning with all the correct information will be the winners of our Grand Prizes. But all teams will be rewarded with Prizes and Refreshments. In order to avoid teams trailing after one another and stepping on each other’s toes, not all sheets of clues are the same. On some, the order of clues is varied and on others some of the clues and sites to be visited are different. There is no set order that must be followed. Good luck! And let’s hope for good weather.
